Artist, photographer, and filmmaker Christian Capurro is based in Melbourne with notable presentations at the Venice Biennale, MASS MoCA, Museum of Contemporary Art, American Academy Rome, Artspace and STUK Kunstencentrum.

For the recent experimental three-act exhibition Two Shores (ReadingRoom) Christian brought together the tripod-tool Disport and the work for tired eyes paint-and-ambient-light paper works in a site-oriented dialogue that was reconfigured weekly. Other continuing works include the video installations, SLAVE (Australian Centre for Contemporary Art) and a man held (Centre for Contemporary Photography), and the scanner-interpolated photographs, a new set of which will debut at the TarraWarra Biennial 2021.

In addition to his work being held in major Australian collections, Christian has been awarded the OZCO ISCP Residency and the Samstag International Visual Arts Scholarship.

PHOTO Australia respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live, and the rich and diverse Indigenous cultures across what is now called Australia. For over 60,000 years, Indigenous arts and culture have thrived on this sacred land, and we honour Elders and cultural leaders past and present. This was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
