Become a PHOTO 2024 Volunteer

Calling all photography lovers, we need your help to deliver PHOTO 2024!

PHOTO 2024 volunteers will have an opportunity to get a behind the scenes glimpse into how we bring PHOTO 2024 International Festival of Photography to life!

PHOTO 2024 volunteers will gain practical insights into event and production management from supporting our staff on guided tours, being front of house for major events and supporting our documentation and evaluation of the festival.

 

Volunteer roles include:

– Front of House duties at PHOTO 2024 events including the PHOTO 2024 Ideas Summit, Photobook Weekend and Festival Hub. Tasks include checking tickets and providing information about the Event.

– Providing support to staff on guided tours

– Assisting with back of house at events e.g. providing speakers with information, advising call times, assisting with the setup of equipment

– Documenting events and collecting anecdotal feedback from visitors and guests

– Event set up and pack down of furniture, art and equipment

– Invigilating gallery and other spaces

– Distributing PHOTO maps

 

Locations

We will need support throughout Melbourne CBD, at our Photobook Weekend at the Abbotsford Convent, at our PHOTO 2024 Hub in Collingwood, and other central locations.

 

Festival volunteers need to be:

– Aged 18 and above

– Available to volunteer 8+ hours during the Festival dates

– Confident, flexible and reliable

– Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team

– Available to attend the volunteer briefing

 

What to Expect as a Volunteer:

Volunteers will be rostered on 3-4 hour shifts between 29 February and 24 March 2024. Volunteers are required to contribute a minimum of two shifts during the Festival. Shifts will be available on weekdays, weekends, day and evenings, and can fit around other study or work commitments.

 

A volunteer briefing will be held one evening in the week commencing 12 February 2024.

 

Volunteers will be supported in their role by PHOTO 2024 staff and will receive an official PHOTO 2024 Volunteers T-shirt.
