Meet the Maker is a series of casual conversations taking place at PHOTO 2024’s Photobook Weekend, giving audiences an opportunity to meet and network with artists and publishers. Photobook creators will showcase their latest projects, sharing insight and answering audience questions.

American artist Daniel Jack Lyons will present his debut monograph Like A River which continues the artist’s long-term commitments to visualising the social and political rights of under-represented communities. Made in collaboration with Casa do Rio, a community-based organisation that celebrates and supports the cultural lives of teenagers and young people living in the Amazon Rainforest, Like A River was shortlisted for Rencontres d’Arles Louis Roederer Discovery Award 2022 and nominated for Prix du Livre, Rencontres d’Arles 2023.

Like A River is being exhibited at PHOTO 2024 as part of Queer PHOTO.

PHOTO Australia respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live, and the rich and diverse Indigenous cultures across what is now called Australia. For over 60,000 years, Indigenous arts and culture have thrived on this sacred land, and we honour Elders and cultural leaders past and present. This was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
