Aligned with the Festival’s theme, ‘the future is for those who can see it’, the ‘Disruptions, Distractions and Generated Visual Realities’ Symposium/Forum will explore the accelerated convergence of social and technological futures and how artists who use photography are responding to the challenges posted by new learning visual and textual methodologies. The Symposium/Forum will feature discussions with a number of visual artists who practice explores the impact of visual generative AI on visual cultures and associated ideas that relate to ethics, education and future image generation. There will also be practical demonstrations based around AI and the portrait genre, the latest innovations in industry-standard software and the integration of ChatGPT in photography.
