Partner Exhibition Marketing Info

Congratulations on being a part of PHOTO 2024! Here you'll find tips to ensure you and your work are presented in the best possible light. Complete the Artist Marketing Info form when you're ready to go.

Artist Headshot

You’re in control of how you’d like to present yourself to the world. There’s no pressure to follow this format exactly, but having a clear headshot helps our team, members of the press, and the public put a face to a name.

Where it may appear:

  • PHOTO 2024 Festival Printed Program, Website, Social Media Channels
  • PHOTO 2024 Press Kit
  • PR and media opportunities

Guidelines:

 Visible face
 No design elements overlaid
 Square or portrait format preferred (minor cropping may occur to suit external media formats)

Good head shots.

Artist Press Shot - Optional

A press shot is an engaging photograph of an artist that aims to capture attention in a publicity context. Think a feature article in a newspaper arts section, or an online interview with a digital magazine. They’re a quick and easy way of getting publicity of your work in the lead up to and during the festival – especially if you’re still in the process of making your work for PHOTO 2024.

Providing this is optional, but you’ll be more likely to get your work more attention if you do.

Where it may appear:

  • PHOTO 2024 Festival Printed Program, Website, Social Media Channels
  • PHOTO 2024 Press Kit
  • PR and media opportunities

Guidelines:

 Creative, intriguing, and attention grabbing image
 Ideally has a relationship to your work
 Landscape format preferred (minor cropping may occur to suit external media formats)

Good press shots.

Shortform Biography

A shortform biography is a great introduction for audiences who may not be familiar with you. It should be brief (around a 100 words), provide some background info about your career, and touch on the ideas explored in your practice generally.

Where it may appear:

  • PHOTO 2024 Festival Printed Program, Website, Social Media Channels
  • PHOTO 2024 Press Kit
  • PR and media opportunities

Artist Statement

Your artist statement addresses the intent and ideas explored in your specific work being displayed at PHOTO 2024. Ideally it should be written in a way that’s accessible to audiences who may not be familiar with your subject matter and provides relevant context to your photographic work.

Where it may appear:

  • PHOTO 2024 Festival Printed Program, Website, Social Media Channels
  • PHOTO 2024 Press Kit
  • PR and media opportunities

Note: Minor edits may be made to your artist statement for consistency and layout reasons when compiling the PHOTO 2024 printed Festival Guide.

PHOTO Australia respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live, and the rich and diverse Indigenous cultures across what is now called Australia. For over 60,000 years, Indigenous arts and culture have thrived on this sacred land, and we honour Elders and cultural leaders past and present. This was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
