Hillvale Gallery aims to support, elevate and exhibit emerging local artists working in the area of photography and lens-based image making.

In 2013 we established Hillvale Photo, our dedicated photo lab, and since then we’ve met many amazing photographers and artists. Hillvale Photo was built by photographers for photographers and this is the same approach we aim to bring to our gallery — a space that supports our values at the lab, including affordability, accessibility and enabling photographers a place to express their practice.

Past artists we’ve worked with include James J. Robinson (as part of PHOTO 2022 International Festival of Photography), Ammar Yonis, Noah Thompson, Madeline Bishop, Sarah Walker, Liss Fenwick, Nicholas Hubicki, Rebecca McCauley & Aaron Claringbold, Anu Kumar, Sarah Pannell, and Ryan Cookson.

PHOTO Australia respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live, and the rich and diverse Indigenous cultures across what is now called Australia. For over 60,000 years, Indigenous arts and culture have thrived on this sacred land, and we honour Elders and cultural leaders past and present. This was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
