The Museum of Australian Photography (MAPh) is the preeminent national institution dedicated to championing Australian photography and its vital role in culture and society. The museum cultivates a community that is actively engaged with Australian photography and its stories, and empowers and celebrates its artists. As Australia’s only public institution solely dedicated to the collection of Australian photographs, MAPh holds a special place in the country’s network of art galleries and museums. Located just 30 minutes out of Melbourne’s CBD, MAPh is situated in a museum designed by architectural luminary Harry Seidler and is nestled within a sculpture park.

PHOTO Australia respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live, and the rich and diverse Indigenous cultures across what is now called Australia. For over 60,000 years, Indigenous arts and culture have thrived on this sacred land, and we honour Elders and cultural leaders past and present. This was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
