With 7 Festival Precincts, 5 Regional Cities, and 4 Focus Weekends, we encourage you to plan your visit to ensure you can experience the Festival to its fullest.

Exhibitions take place across seven Festival Precincts: Melbourne Arts Precinct, Parliament Precinct, State Library Precinct, Fitzroy/Collingwood Precinct, Brunswick Precinct, West Precinct, and South Precinct. You can explore one at a time, or weave your way through them all as an art trail.
There are also exhibitions and events across five regional cities: Ballarat, Castlemaine, Shepparton, Benalla and Morwell.

01 – 03 March
Opening Weekend
Join us for the launch of PHOTO 2024, with a full weekend of over a hundred exhibition openings across all our festival precincts. Explore our 2024 Icon Artists and landmark outdoor works.
08 – 11 March
Regional Weekend
Head out of town for a long weekend of art in Regional Victoria, from Nan Goldin in Ballarat to Ryan McGinley in Shepparton, and a takeover of the Latrobe Regional Gallery.
16 – 17 March
Ideas Weekend
Join the conversation with our program of workshops, panels and talks across our partner galleries, and delve into the ramifications of our festival theme, The Future Is Shaped By Those Who Can See It.
23 – 24 March
Photobook Weekend
Celebrate the role of the phonebook in contemporary photographic practice with this two-day program at Abbotsford Convent. Join us for the photobook market, photobook awards, hands-on workshops, panel discussions, and book launches.
Curated Guides
Across 100 exhibitions, you’re invited into a conversation with photographers, artists, curators, and academics about what lies ahead, and how today’s actions are shaping future realities. Explore possible and parallel across five thematic strands:
Emerging technological developments are changing the way we see the future and approach image-making.
As fights for human rights persist across the globe, questions endure: who has the power in society?
Placing Indigenous thinking front and centre, these self-determined imaginings are key to an Indigenous-led future.
As the Anthropocene and climate catastrophe reshape our planet, and the human-made increasingly outweighs the natural, what solutions can be offered?
From trans and queer youth in the Amazon to AI-generated drag queens.

All PHOTO 2024 exhibitions are free and do not require tickets.
Exhibition opening hours are listed and will be updated if changes come to hand. Please call the venues directly for any specific enquiries or last minute updates.
Some events require tickets or registering in advance.

Access
We endeavour to provide as much access information as possible for each exhibition and event. Please contact the venue directly about specific access requirements.
While care has been taken to place outdoor exhibitions in locations which are as accessible as possible, some access may be restricted.
Event listings indicate when Auslan interpretation is available to book.
Young Person's Guide
The PHOTO 2024 Young Person’s Guide is a comprehensive resource to assist teachers working with students from Year 9 to 12 to navigate a number of outdoor artworks in the CBD on the PHOTO 2024 art trail.

Getting Around
Many of the venues in the CBD, Fitzroy/Collingwood and Brunswick are within walking distance of each other or via a short trip on public transport, with many Festival sites located in the Free Tram Zone. Regional venues can be accessed by Vline services.

If you are deaf, or have a hearing or speech impairment, you can use the National Relay Service to contact Public Transport Victoria. TTY users can call 03 9619 2727.
Stay
Why not make a night (or two) of it and treat yourself to a stay at Sofitel Melbourne on Collins, PHOTO 2024’s official Hotel Partner. This will place you at the heart of the Festival, with dozens of exhibitions on your doorstep.
