Australian-Javanese artist Mashara Wachjudy contemplates and leans into loss and love in Always—a new work that takes comfort in careful arrangements of recent and past work.

Occupying the WestSpace Window, Always reflects on the tensions that arise between the accumulation of time and the importance of remembering. Sculptural and photographic, the work comprises framed digital prints, supported by sculptural structures made from glass bricks. Through these materials, the artist explores the architectural nature of memory, time and feeling.

PHOTO Australia respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live, and the rich and diverse Indigenous cultures across what is now called Australia. For over 60,000 years, Indigenous arts and culture have thrived on this sacred land, and we honour Elders and cultural leaders past and present. This was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
