Tour Guide

  • Anindita Banerjee (AU)

Anindita Banerjee, a twice uprooted Indian, is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher that lives and works on the land of the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation. Using gestural portrayals of hybrid rituals, she wonders where her place as an immigrant is on the unceded indigenous lands of present day Australia. Having completed her PhD at Deakin University, her research interest includes cultural otherness, authentic identity and the sense of home.

PHOTO Australia respectfully acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands upon which we work and live, and the rich and diverse Indigenous cultures across what is now called Australia. For over 60,000 years, Indigenous arts and culture have thrived on this sacred land, and we honour Elders and cultural leaders past and present. This was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
